When an accused person is being held in prison, the responsibility of ensuring they have legal representation can often fall to friends or family members. This can be incredibly challenging, especially if you have limited understanding of what the charges are or what the accused person wants to do. As your phone calls to prison are recorded and can be used as evidence, it is unwise to discuss an incarcerated person’s ongoing legal matters or relay legal information over the phone. However, this can create issues when the person in prison needs legal advice.
